JUNE FAVORITES: WIG, DECOR, KITCHEN GADGET, DEER BALLS, PAJAMAS, BIBLE VERSE

June came and went so quickly, but it was a fun month, thanks to family visiting from out of the country and many friends coming over for brunch, snacks, and good old chats. I've been feeling the best I've felt all year, so I've been able to cook more and try many new recipes. We even took my visiting brother to see a play at our local playhouse. It is good to feel closer to normal again, and I'm making the most of every day these days! Even if most of our days are still spent at home.

Here are a few of my favorites from June.

Single Origin Wig by Belle Tress in Rose Gold

It's my birthday and I'll wear pink if I want to! Well, it was my birthday this month, so I decided to be bold, even if a little silly, and buy a pink wig. Will I ever wear it out of the house? I doubt it. But it was exciting to receive, and heck, why not? And this being a special birthday, as just a few months ago, I wasn't even sure if I'd make it to 54; it was time to celebrate! Plus, my husband thought it was cute, which made it fun. To purchase this or any other wig, visit Frannie's Hair. Frannie and her team are the best!

Morris & Co. Blackthorn Rug in Ivory Frrom Ruggable

We've done a lot of redecorating around our home this last month, and the focus has mainly been on the lower level since my brother stayed there last week. Plus, we will have additional houseguests stay with us off and on through the end of the year and it has really come together beautifully!

I first tried rugs from Ruggable when we were caregivers for my folks. These rugs are washable and thin, so they are easy to care for and look great. I was pleased to find this pretty pattern that complements the blues and greens throughout. And I love the addition of dusty pinky tones to offer a feminine touch and some brightness. It looks even better in person. I have mine layered over the carpet to provide even more coziness, plus peace of mind to protect our almost white carpet under our coffee table by the couch. Guests can eat, drink, and be merry without worrying about spills. Visit Ruggables here for more styles.

Chicken Shredder from Amazon

June was definitely the month for buying kitchen gadgets. The plan was to make cooking easier and quicker to help save money and cook more at home (no more eating out!)... I also encouraged myself to invite even more people over for food and fellowship.

I purchased a griddle, vegetable chopper, mini food processor (I already have the large one), a device that helps you hold your onion still while you cut it, a cheese and vegetable grater, and my favorite, a chicken shredder. This was a big deal for me because in my younger years, I thought I only needed two things: a good knife and my hands to accomplish just about anything in the kitchen.

This manual device is so simple. Place pieces of cooked chicken on the spikes in the lower tray, add the lid and twist the top from right to left until you have perfectly shredded chicken. It is quick and easy and washes up well in the dishwasher. Chicken salad, I see you. And I will enjoy you even more now. For around $20, this gadget is a no-brainer.

Deer Repellant Balls from Amazon

Along with redecorating our home, we completed some new landscaping designs we've wanted to do for the last few years, including adding some new Anabelle Hydrangea and light pink climbing roses. Beautiful? Well, they were, that is, until the deer demolished them.

We had about 25 new plants placed around our yard, and we slept well that night, knowing our landscaping was finally complete. That is until we were shocked to find out, come the following day that just about all of our new plants had been eaten. No more flowers, just stems. It was heartbreaking. Since then, we've had daily spottings of deer still trying to find tasty treats in our yard, but now they just stay around the perimeter thanks to these Deer Repellant Balls.

Simply place the small balls next to your precious plants, and the smell, which is a strong blend of peppermint and other essential oils, will do the work for you, keeping the deer (and rabbits) away. Just make sure to wear gloves while placing them, as they really do smell. And just remember, these need to be replaced every month or so. It's costly, but so far, they're effective. These can be purchased here.

Pima Long-Long Set in Dusty Blue in Antoinette by Lake

I've always believed that having great sheets, pillows, and comforters are some of the greatest pleasures in life (and a good night's sleep), and now I can add in pajamas as well. In last month's favorites (May), I also featured the company Lake, focusing on their adorable dress. And this month, I can confidently say their pajamas are just as good. I'm on my third pair, and I think this style is my favorite and most comfortable. The Pima cotton is heavenly, so soft and cozy you'll never want to get out of bed! And how cute is this design? I can't wait to put on my PJs every night now. To see more styles, visit Lake here.

Bible Verse of the Month

"Then he said to them, 'Go your way. Eat the fat and drink sweet wine and send portions to anyone who has nothing ready, for this day is holy to our Lord. And do not be grieved, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.'”

-Nehemiah 8:10

The joy of the Lord is my strength. Powerful and encouraging words, indeed. Talk about an amazing promise.

Questions to ponder:

  1. Currently, what is the source of your joy?

  2. Who do you lean on to help you find strength?

  3. How can you find joy when you're going through trials?

  4. Do you have an authentic relationship with The Lord?

  5. What are some ways you can deepen your relationship with Christ daily?

I Am Not Cancer

All too often, when someone is diagnosed with cancer, all people start to see is the disease in them, and they no longer see the person. But cancer doesn't define me.

I'm a wife of 32 years to my beloved high school sweetheart, I love to create, in layout and design, and decorate my home. I'm a writer and I find joy in cooking and entertaining. I've owned an Advertising Agency and truly shine when it comes to marketing, especially helping small businesses find their target market and overall company branding.

Plus, accomplishing my goal of going back to college at age 30 and graduating Magna Cum Laude with Class Distinction in Mass Communication was life-changing.

Working as the publisher of my magazine and writing a weekly Sunday column in the newspaper was quite fulfilling. And having been a live-in caregiver for both of my parents in their last years of life was an honor and I'm forever grateful for the time with them.

It's been a blessing to live so many of my dreams and experience so much. And even though my diagnosis is terminal, I'll continue to live each day putting God first.

I love the Lord deeply and pray that I can help make a difference, uplifting and encouraging others while using the gifts He has given me. I hope to lead people to Christ and share about His wondrous love and grace and promise of salvation. That is what truly matters most.

I have cancer. but cancer doesn't define me.

- Diana Claire, diagnosed February 2024

"My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”

-John 15:12-13

'Yet those who wait for the Lord will gain new strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary"

-Isaiah 40:31
