FAITH & VEGGIES
MEET DIANA CLAIRE

"You have Colon Cancer, stage 4," my Oncologist said, lowering his head and slowly writing "out of 4" on the paper to ensure I understood the magnitude of it all.

I was prepared for this news, since just a few weeks before, I had a tumor the size of a golf ball removed from my colon, and I learned the cancer had spread to my liver. What I wasn't prepared for was learning I had 3-9 months to live without chemo and 2-5 years to live with it, because no one is ever prepared to hear these words at age 53, even if you've Googled it.

Fast forward 6 weeks since the diagnosis, and when I think about the things that are most important to me, faith and family come to mind. Faith in Jesus Christ and gratitude for His redeeming grace. And family, spending time with my husband and siblings while living each day with intention and doing my best to prayerfully make the biggest treatment decisions of my life.

And now, with a desire to share my quest for a deepened faith and connect with others navigating cancer as the patient, or the caregiver, Faith & Veggies was born. In this blog, which will read more like a diary, I plan to offer clean, healthy, and delicious recipes with plenty of veggies, that we actually eat at our home. Heartfelt devotionals, and tips for fellow caregivers. Plus, an honest and vulnerable glimpse into my story as a cancer patient.
